Last year was significant for space missions. Now that we officially enter 2021, NASA is looking forward to a package of space exploration programs, its goal is to land on the moon, Mars, and beyond.
The space agency released a video trailer to promote the New Year’s plan, and the moon is the star of the show.
NASA’s 2021 videotape was launched on the moon and plans to launch Artemis I.
Although the video is full of hope and optimism, the reality is that launching space missions on time is a challenge.
In a report released by NASA at the end of 2020, it pointed out that the delayed launch of the Space Launch System (SLS) rocket, the schedule of the coronavirus pandemic, and the high cost have hindered the agency’s announcement of the adoption of Alemi Mi.
Si plans to put humans on the moon in 2024.
The first large-scale test of the SLS and Orion spacecraft is being carried out with Artemis I in 2021, but we must wait and see whether the unmanned mission can be launched this year after all.
Other NASA goals in 2021 are also progressing well. The Perseverance probe will land on Mars on February 18. If all goes well, this will mark the beginning of a long-term plan to bring Martian rock samples back to Earth.
The long-delayed James Webb Space Telescope is still on the calendar and is scheduled to launch on October 31.
The moon, Mars, and James Webb are just a few of the highlights. The complete video will take you from the International Space Station to the DART asteroid redirection mission.
If NASA manages to remove most of these items from its 2021 to-do list, then we will spend an epic year in space.
