Thanks to the update of the “Your Phone” app for Samsung Galaxy phones, you can access multiple Android apps side by side on your Windows 10 device. Since Microsoft introduced an update to the “Your Phone” app to the public in August, some Android phone users can now access the Android mobile app directly from their Windows 10 ($158 on Amazon) PC.
If you are part of the Windows Insider program, the latest Windows 10 version released on November 11 will allow you to run multiple Android mobile apps in parallel on Windows 10 PCs and supported Samsung devices.
The update was first announced during the Samsung Unpacked event on August 5 and allows you to pin your favorite Android mobile apps to the taskbar or Start menu on your computer for quick and easy access. These applications will be opened in a different window from the “phone” application. Even if your phone application is not open, you can use them in basically the same way as on your phone.
The latest Windows 10 version allows you to search for previously pinned apps from the “Startup” app list without having to install apps on the desktop or login again.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, many people are still working at home, so the ability to use a mouse, pen, or touch screen to access phone applications on a larger desktop or laptop screen may help to multitask.
Although this feature is now generally available, it is currently only available for Samsung Galaxy phones. Find a complete list of supported phones on Microsoft’s support website.
What do I need to run Android applications on a Windows 10 PC?
In addition to Samsung Galaxy phones (at least for now), you also need a PC running Windows 10 October 2019 Update or later. Go to Settings> Update and Security> Check for Updates to check the version that is running on your PC. If you need to upgrade, you can still download Windows 10 for free.
You also need the latest version of the Your Phone application and a Link to Windows. On your phone, you need to run Android 9.0 or higher and have the “Link to Windows” integrated function.
Finally, your phone and computer must be on the same Wi-Fi network for this feature to work properly.
