You are working from home then You must looking for the fastest VPNn in 2021. You are in contact with Netflix, you are playing games, and you are listening to music if you are reading this article, then you are most likely looking for a VPN that can manage a large number of data cables running over coaxial cables.
This is where the fastest VPN guide comes from. We have reviewed and tested many VPN services to find the best VPN implementer.
However, there are some considerations to keep in mind when testing the speed of a VPN provider. On the one hand, it is not easy to speed up the testing of VPNs by converting them into viable consumer recommendations. No matter how fast you use it, the use of any VPN will slow down your browsing speed to a certain extent.
Not only that, the speed of VPNs can change every day, which has prompted some audit sites to create automated monitoring processes. In the U.S., the potential Internet speed also has an impact, depending on the state and provider you live in.
- 16.9% speed lost (faster than the 27% loss in the previous test)
- Fastest VPN connection: United States
- The slowest connection speed: Australia
Surfshark lost only 27% of its speed at the end of 2019 in my review, putting it far ahead of all its competitors-except for the seemingly impossible speed leader ExpressVPN, It accounted for less than 2% speed loss in my 2019 test. But at the end of 2020, Surfshark’s speed loss was 17%. In my latest test, ExpressVPN’s speed dropped to 52% speed loss, leading the market with a 700% speed loss.
The extraordinary thing about Surfshark’s speed is that its average speed cannot overcome the main speed loss in any particular test area. This thing appeared on the day of the game and stole the gold. It didn’t seem to be sweating.
During the test, my basic non-VPN speed averaged 194 megabits per second, while the overall average speed of Surfshark was 161 Mbps. After taking the average of the five test locations, none of the averages of these locations fell below 100 Mbps.
The average clock rate of Surfshark on US connections is 204 Mbps. Since the VPN service provider allows you to choose which VPN server to connect to with convenient visual icons to indicate the overall congestion level of each server location.
It Manually selects the smallest VPN traffic load of the server within the United States. Moreover, I wanted to report the speed of New York specifically for you. But this is not fair. NordVPN still lacks this feature frustratingly, so I used Surfshark’s automatic server selection option. However, NordVPN was unable to approach Surfshark’s US speed during the test period, compared to the average speed on a US connection of only 89 Mbps.
In tests in the UK and Europe, Surfshark’s performance once again surpassed similar products, reaching an average of 165 Mbps and 171 Mbps, respectively. Although future tests may cover other parts of Europe, my current choice is the connection between Germany and France.
Normally, regardless of using a VPN, the speed of Frankfurt will lower the average speed, while the connection speed of Orange and Paris will be greatly improved. Surfshark’s speed is still the same, but even Surfshark’s German numbers are higher than the average speed of its competitors.
Typically, Australia is where we see people diving-the distance from my test site in Kentucky to the continent provides a significant delay. The latency is still high, but Surfshark does not seem to be a problem, with an average download speed of 126 Mbps. For comparison, this is close to the average 122 Mbps I measured for ExpressVPN’s European connection.
In Singapore, speed is always competitive. Ookla, the speed test site used by me and most other reviewers, rated Singapore’s Internet speed as the world’s fastest Internet speed in 2018, with a national average speed of 181 Mbps. How is Surfshark doing there? Easily and easily reach the average of 142 Mbps.
- 51.8% speed loss (slower than the previous 2% speed in the previous test)
- The fastest VPN connection: Western Europe
- The slowest connection speed: United States
I saw ExpressVPN’s speed drop from last year’s astonishing speed. This is not only our VPN editor’s choice but also because it is one of the few VPNs that has been proven to not keep a record of usage during geopolitical trials, it is my personal favorite VPN.
It has a long history and long-lasting encryption function, coupled with the unmatched speed at the time, non-five eyes jurisdiction, and simplified user interface so that the VPN subscription fee is above average.
Last year, ExpressVPN caused me a speed loss of less than 2%. This year, my speed has dropped by 52%. Although this is a big drop, it is still better than average compared to other VPNs. To be clear, ExpressVPN is still a speed devil. For sites with a large-scale automatic VPN speed test process, it always ranks among the top ten.
Just because Surfshark beat it to the finish line this time does not mean that ExpressVPN is completely sluggish. It will still fly, and most people will not encounter problems with games, streaming, or even torrenting.
During the test, my non-VPN speed averaged 193 Mbps, and the overall global average speed of ExpressVPN was 93 Mbps. The European connection reached the highest speed, with the average speed between Frankfurt, Berlin, and Paris about 122 Mbps.
Australia’s speeds surpass those of the United Kingdom and the United Kingdom, reaching 101 Mbps and 86 Mbps, respectively. However, between the two, the United Kingdom achieved a better personal high score, reaching a maximum of 157 Mbps in a test, while Australia had the highest single-round score, reaching 136 Mbps. At 89 Mbps, Singapore’s score is only 3 points higher than the United Kingdom.
The US score is where ExpressVPN’s average level has dropped: Although a single test speed reached 134 Mbps, the US average speed was only 66 Mbps.
An ExpressVPN spokesperson said: “We think a possible explanation is that during the time period you tested, there was network saturation between your ISP and our data center, which is not a typical result.”
Is ExpressVPN still my favorite?
Absolutely. Moreover, even though this conference call is not my business alone, I think that it will take more than a one-time effort to surpass “Editor’s Choice”. Similarly, if Surfshark has ever been confiscated by the government from its servers and found that the logs are unrecorded in public places, then ExpressVPN will face trouble.
- 53% speed loss (32% slower than the previous test)
- Fastest VPN connection: Singapore
- The slowest connection speed: United States
It should be said that since my first test last year, NordVPN has been steadily increasing its speed. Although my latest test shows that VPN providers are 2 percentage points behind ExpressVPN, other speed test sites have found that it usually grows rapidly. Since last year’s embarrassing third-party server vulnerability which seems to cause little damage, NordVPN has become more aggressive. With the improvement of privacy protection in the range of the server, it has improved the engine.
Of course, some of them may be related to the launch of the new security protocol NordVPN (called NordLynx). It is built on WireGuard, a protocol that is still developing, and some people think it is less secure than OpenVPN, but it ended up being a faster VPN tunnel. These improvements have won the recommendation of Ookla and AV-Test.
Even with praise from others, in my test, NordVPN’s overall global average speed was 91 Mbps, and in the data set with an average non-VPN speed of 194 Mbps, the speed loss was about 53%. Although it is normal to reduce the Internet speed of a VPN by half or more, it is worth noting that in the average of my five test areas, I have never seen NordVPN below 85 Mbps. It is still one of the most consistent and stable VPNs I have ever used.
Singapore is ahead of the VPN speed test average with a speed of 98 Mbps, while the speed in the UK far exceeds the speed in Europe.
The connection speed of the UK VPN is 99.93 Mbps, which is lower than the average speed of France and Germany, which averages 91.90 Mbps. NordVPN also completed another photo during the test. Australia beat the United States to reach 88 Mbps to 86 Mbps. These are not scores that you can underestimate.
No matter which VPN you use, some configurations can help you maximize your speed. These suggestions are not designed to improve overall privacy, but depending on the VPN you use, some of them may reduce privacy. However, if you are interested, there are three ways to increase your VPN speed:
- Check Your Protocol
- Choose Nearby Servers
