CNBC said that Tesla’s service center can now perform various forms of collision repair internally. According to reports, the automaker sent customers a message titled “Collision Repair is Here” telling them that the local Tesla Service Center can now be an alternative to body repair shops to repair “small dents”, Wear, scratches, etc.” Tesla wrote that its optimized process allows the company to quickly repair the damage.
Company President Elon Musk initially talked about Tesla’s plan to do most of the collision-related work internally in 2018. At that time, the automaker was able to resolve certain types of damage within 24 hours, but it hoped to provide the same compensation, one-day and one-hour repairs.
As CNBC pointed out, Tesla stated in its financial report for the fourth quarter of 2020 that its “services and others” segment had revenues of $678 million. Collision repair and other services may become a greater means of making money for the company because the warranty period for its vehicles has expired.
Tesla said in a message to customers that its collision repair service may include “suspension and axle damage, front and rear bumpers, hoods, lift doors and mirror covers, as well as door, wheel, and all glass repairs.
“It asks interested customers to enter the “Service” menu in the Tesla app and select “Collision and Glass Repair” to schedule an appointment.
The company is clearly pushing for all customer communications through its app rather than over the phone, as this method provides a written record of all communications and other advantages.
