Telegram has added group video chat to its mobile and desktop apps at last, a feature it promised would return in April 2020. You can make video calls in any group on the platform by tapping the camera icon to turn on your device’s video.
Telegram says users can have unlimited audio calls, but a group video call will have a limit of 30 participants after they start a voice call. It said in the announcement that it plans to raise that limit “soon.”. You can share your screen during a video call as well.
The Telegram group video calling feature is now available
According to Pavel Durov, the company has 500 million active users, most of whom changed over to Telegram after the Facebook-owned WhatsApp botched its introduction of a privacy change. However, Telegram‘s introduction of group video calls lags behind those of its competitors. In 2018, WhatsApp added voice and video calling to group chats, reaching 2 billion users as of February.
Telegram also introduced improved noise suppression and animated backgrounds, in addition to the long-awaited group video call feature. Telegram users can create their own animated backgrounds or pick from several predefined ones within the iOS and Android apps.
