There are plenty of giant swords in the upcoming Final Fantasy spinoff, which is heavy on the action. Square Enix announced Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin at its E3 2021 keynote, which is billed as a collaborative effort between Final Fantasy veterans Tetsuya Nomura and Kazushige Nojima, and renowned developer Team Ninja. The trailer above gives you an idea of what to expect.
The game hasn’t been described in more detail, but the description makes it sound similar to the rest of the series:
They carry the memory of their struggle with them forever… Seeing the gates to the Chaos Shrine being opened, Jack, Ash, and Jed burn with a fierce determination to defeat Chaos. However, doubts still remain – are they indeed the Warriors of Light as foretold in the prophecy? Enjoy an exhilarating, action-packed gameplay experience in a world of dark fantasy.
Nomura said in a statement, “It is Final Fantasy, but it feels different – but there is no doubt the blood of Final Fantasy still flows through it.”.
To find the middle ground between style and maturity in this mature title was quite the challenge. There’s still some time left before we can finish this, and while the battle system is bloody, it does tie into the story, so why don’t you give it a try?”
There will be a PS5 demo available from now until June 24th, but the game is also expected to launch in 2022 on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
