Spotify is testing polls to make podcasts more interactive
- Starting today, about 90% of users will see new features.
Spotify wants to make it easier for podcasters and listeners to interact. Today, it launched a poll, and this new feature will allow podcasters to ask questions directly in the app. When the audience responds, they will see how their answers compare with others.
Podcasters can completely control the questions they ask. For example, they can conduct polls to find out who the next guest should be, or get opinions from the debates in the plot. All answers will remain anonymous.
Spotify is still testing this feature, so it is only available in a few podcasts. You will find it in “Watchable Movies”, “The Incredible Feat of Dan Cummins”, “Countdown to Crime” and more.
During the testing phase, approximately 90% of users in all markets will have access to opinion polls on iOS and Android devices. If you are in the test group, you will see this feature at the bottom of the episode page or the “Now Playing” page of the episode.
Polling is already a popular feature on other platforms, and it can make podcasts more interactive. Earlier this year, Reddit launched its own poll creation tool. Since 2018, Instagram has conducted polls, and Twitter has allowed and improved polls even longer.
