Searches for Work from Home jobs have surged during COVID-19

During COVID-19, searches for “work from home” jobs have surged, and Google has provided tips to improve visibility. An unfortunate consequence of the coronavirus pandemic is that millions of people are unemployed, especially in the United States.

In the current situation, many people are looking for work from home jobs, and now Google is working hard to increase the visibility of these positions.

Work from Home jobs

Google’s job search tool has been used for a long time and has long allowed searchers to filter for positions that allow remote work. The company further emphasized this year.

According to SERoundTable, Google has sent e-mails to some employers, including some interesting tidbits. First, Google searches for “work from home” positions have surged this year.

Also, Google hopes that more employers will show it when telecommuting is allowed at work.

Google explained in an email shared on Twitter that simple notes can be added to the job list to ensure that they are displayed correctly in Google’s job search tool

After setting the “jobLocationType: TELECOMMUTE” property, the label “Work from Home” will be displayed next to the post.


Please note that this feature is currently only available in the United States and the United Kingdom.

Considering the recent COVID-19 impact on businesses and employment, Google has seen job seekers’ interest in working from home and remote work opportunities increase. We hope to make it easier for job seekers to discover these relevant employment options.

To this end, we recommend that you specify jobLocationType: “TELECOMMUTE” in all job postings that allow 100% remote work to annotate all remote jobs. Implementing this tag can display a “work from home” label next to the job posting to increase the visibility of interested job applicants.
