During its showcase at the E3 2021 event on Sunday, Microsoft announced The Outer Worlds 2, the sequel to Obsidian’s 2019 role-playing shooter.
Trailers for similar early announcements are also notoriously devoid of details, and the ones for this game Outer Worlds 2 openly poked fun at how lacking in details they are.
As an ominous voice shouts in the ridiculously over-the-top trailer, we can only see a silhouette of our hero, because the developers aren’t done with the design. “Or you could finish it. You haven’t actually finished any gameplay that’s ready to show. Their only accomplishment is… This title refers to.
The game Outer Worlds 2 is only a bit more described in a post on Xbox Wire, though. According to Obsidian studio head Feargus Urquhart, the game will take place in a new star system with a new crew.
The company’s upcoming fantasy RPG, Avowed, was shown at the Xbox showcase last July, but Urquhart only said there’s no update at the moment. If you’re wondering what Avowed will be like, Urquhart said, “the team has been working hard on making something we’re sure fans of our games and Pillars of Eternity will enjoy.” Our goal is to show what we are working on in a few weeks, while we do not have anything to show right now.”
