macOS Big Sur update brings some older MacBook Pros to a deadlock

For some users, macOS Big Sur is not a pleasant update. According to MacRumors, users on Apple forums and Reddit always get a black screen when they try to update their 13-inch MacBook Pro models from the end of 2013 or mid-2014 to Big Sur.

There seems to be no solution to this problem, including shortcuts for resetting NVRAM and SMC.

An engineer investigating a customer problem seemed to have solved the problem after removing the IC chip of the HDMI port but was not sure what the cause was.

We have asked Apple to comment. The company has asked at least one owner to send its system for repair, while another said that Apple’s engineering team is aware of the problem. At least for now, you may want to delay updating the older 13-inch MacBook Pro.

It is not certain that this will affect everyone. However, this may cause huge trouble. Even if AppleCare is purchased, the affected known Macs are completely out of warranty.

Although Apple may bear the cost in the future, if you need a short-term working system, you may face expensive repair or replacement costs.
