Apple released the first numbered update for iOS 14.2 on Thursday, but unlike most software updates, this update is only available for iPhone 12 users. If you have an iPhone 12, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12 Pro, or iPhone 12 Pro Max, you should see this update in Settings next time you check the app.
These are the release notes for iOS 14.2.1, which resolve many issues affecting iPhone 12 models:
- Apple pays $113 million to resolve dozens of iPhone lawsuits.
- Apple will cut App Store commission fees for most developers in 2021.
- Apple seeded developers with iOS 14.3 beta 2 and iPadOS 14.3 beta 2.
- Some MMS may not be received.
- Hearing aids designed for the iPhone may have sound quality issues when listening to iPhone audio.
- The lock screen on the iPhone 12 mini may not respond.
It is not clear when or if this update will be used on other iPhone models, but if you are using iPhone 11 or older, there is nothing to download and install right now, so don’t search for updates.
