How to use Word Processor for Page Formatting

Word processor is an application software which helps you to create a document electronically. The document thus created can be edited, formatted, printed and stored for future use. Using the different text formatting features present in the word processor, you can enhance the look of your document. You can add a suitable image or graph to your text in the document to make it more attractive and meaningful. Beside that, you add animation and link several documents together. Word Processor have speller and thesaurus tools that help you in proof reading your documents.

Page Formatting 

Page formatting refers to making changes to the settings of the page. MS Word has a tab the Page Layout which is used for page formatting.

Page margin is the distance or the white space between the edge of the page on all four sides and your documents main content. By default, page margins in MS Word is 1 inch on all four sides, at the top, bottom, left and right.

How to use Word Processor for Page Formatting

Follow these steps to change the page margins of your documents.

  • Click the Page Layout Tab from your application.
  • Click Margins in the Page Setup group.
  • Click the type or choose your type of margin of your choice from the drop-down box.

Now, if you prefer to use your own margins, then follow the below steps:

  • Click on the Page Layout tab.
  • Click on Margins and that you the end.
  • Specify the margins that you would like to use or modify.
  • And Click on OK button.

Please note that you can always access the Page Setup dialog box by clicking the small arrow in the top bottom-right corner of the Page Setup group.

How to change the Orientation of the Page

Page orientation is the direction in which a document is displayed or printed. The two basic types of page orientation are Portrait (vertical) and Landscape (horizontal). MS-Word the default page orientation is portrait.

Follow these steps to change the orientation of your page.

  • Click the Page Layout tab.
  • Click Orientation in the Page Setup group.
  • Click Portrait or Landscape.

How to setting Paper Size

In MS-Word you can set the paper size before the you print your document. Follow these steps to change the paper size:

  • Click the Page Layout tab.
  • Click Size in the Page Setup group.
  • Different paper sizes will be displayed. Selected the required size from the drop down list.

How to inserting Page Break

Follow these steps to insert a page break.

  • Position your cursor and click where you want to insert a page break.
  • Click the Insert tab.
  • Click Page Break in the Pages group.
