Apple’s (How to improve your MacBook’s battery life?) The new MacBook is powered by the Apple Silicon M1 processor, so Apple can extend the battery life of the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro M1 even more than a laptop. However, if for some reason you have problems with battery life, for example: With this MacBook, you do not need to use a large charger all day.
Adjusting the settings may take a few minutes, I will show some tips on how to check the status and lower the brightness of the keyboard and screen, and use the Safari browser in Chrome to maintain.
How do I know the battery percentage of my MacBook?
Keeping track of the battery level doesn’t take long, but it can help you figure out how much more you can do before charging. With the release of the macOS 11, Apple removed the ability to display battery percentage in the menu bar.
Instead, click the battery icon to see the indicated amount of remaining battery power. Apple has also implemented a new way to charge the MacBook battery.
As you can see in the image above, the MacBook Pro battery is 91% charged, but you have the option to fully charge it when needed.
Apple knows the MacBook Pro is mostly plugged in and the MacBook Pro rarely charges 100% to conserve battery power.
- Display the battery percentage in the menu bar.
- On your Mac, choose Apple menu> System Preferences, and click Dock & Menu Bar.
- Click the battery and select Show Percentage.
How to check the battery health status of your MacBook?
When you bought a refurbished MacBook or dropped an old MacBook for the last time, it’s a good idea to check the battery level. MacOS includes a tool that tells you if it has capacity potential and if it needs to be replaced.
- To view the battery health report.
- Click the battery icon in the menu bar.
- Then select Battery options.
- Then make sure the Battery tab is selected on the left side of the window, then click Battery Status.
- The window displays the current status and maximum capacity.
If you have questions or want to know more about the status, click the Details button to open the Apple support page for your MacBook processor.
You can check your MacBook’s battery history to see how many times it has been charged.
- Click the Apple icon in the upper left corner, hold down the Option key on your keyboard, and click System Information.
- The system information application will open.
- Now, to find health information, you need to find and select the energy section.
- Battery status, capacity, and cycle are displayed. See Apple Battery Cycle Estimation Chart for more information.
- Most new MacBook batteries have an expected life of 1000 charge cycles. Apple then suggested replacing the battery.
Speaking of Chrome
if this is your default web browser, you will need to switch to Apple’s Safari browser. Chrome is a well-known resource that eats up valuable memory and extends your laptop’s battery life.
Apple Battery for MacBook is calculated using Safari as your default web browser. If you’ve never used Safari to browse the web before, you’ll be amazed at what Safari has to offer.
Personally, I use it as my default browser and it’s hardly a problem, but it didn’t happen a few years ago.
Have a shiny new Mac M1? Finding M1 Applications
The Apple M1 MacBook uses a completely different processor than Intel. Therefore, you need to optimize your application for efficiency. Most, if not all, applications will run on the Mac M1, whether the developer has gone through the optimization process or not.
However, there are drawbacks to using non-optimized programs. The battery may be discharged. Developers are gradually rolling out updates that provide M1 support for their apps.
Hence, you need to make sure that the apps you use the most are the most recent. In this case, if you don’t see the M1 compatibility information in the release notes, we recommend that you check the app website or download another Mac-related website. For example, the Google site has two versions of Chrome. One for Mac with Intel processors.
The other is apple chips. It only takes a few minutes to check the application website for another version.
Update your software regularly
Keeping your Mac OS up to date will help you extend your battery life. To check for MacBook updates, go to System Preferences> Software Update. Check the boxes during your stay and your Mac will always update automatically. You can click the Advanced button to automatically check, download or install updates.
Turn off the keyboard backlight when not needed
Backlit keyboards are great for typing in the dark, but they can drain your battery as well. The keypad backlight can be turned off after a period of inactivity, turned on when needed, and turned off when absent.
- Go to System Preferences> Keyboard.
- On the Keyboard tab, check the box to turn off X seconds/minutes, then turn off the keyboard backlight.
- Options range from 5 seconds to 5 minutes.
It’s also a good idea to keep personal brightness settings no matter how dark or light the area you are working with by adjusting the bar next to the keyboard brightness in the dark.
Save screen battery measurement and optimize streaming power supply
The video screen is the biggest drainage of battery resources. First: Lower the brightness level that feels comfortable. If the screen is bright, the battery life is short.
You can also set the battery to hide the battery and set the battery and turn off the power supply, and turn off the battery and turn off the power supply.
When you are on battery power, you can reduce the battery lens when weakening the screen and sending a movie to the battery.
I also suggest you adjust the period you want to live in a simple amount. If you pay attention to other places elsewhere, close your MacBook screen and save your beautiful battery life.
If you are not using Bluetooth, turn it off
When you leave your desk, you may not have a mouse or Bluetooth speaker. There is no need to turn on Bluetooth because nothing can be paired.
We recommend turning off the radio to conserve battery power.
- Click the Control Center icon in the menu bar.
- Click Bluetooth, then click the switch to turn it off.
The only downside to turning off Bluetooth is that Apple’s resume feature, which allows you to quickly and easily exchange information between your iPhone or iPad and Mac, doesn’t work.
When finished, remove the accessories
As with Bluetooth, if you are not using a USB-connected device (such as a flash drive), you will need to unplug the power cable.
If the power cable is not connected, use the USB port on the USB port on your MacBook to charge the battery. If you’re looking for ways to improve your Mac’s performance, we’re here to help.
I often forget, but there is still a long list of Mac OS features you need to know. Be sure to back up your Mac before you forget about it.
Turn off programs you no longer use
It is recommended to close the program when it is no longer in use.
- You can do this by pressing the Command and Q keys at the same time, or by clicking the program name in the menu bar and choosing the Exit option.
To see the power consumed by each open application, open Activity View and click the Power tab or the battery icon in the menu bar.
