Google Pixel 4 Review: Summarizes the Performance and Specifications

It’s true that the Pixel 4 and 4 XL introduce a lot of new features and performance, but that doesn’t mean it’s worth replacing or replacing an existing smartphone.

(+) For

  1. A great camera is now even better.
  2. Solid easy-to-grip design.
  3. Beautiful 90Hz display

(-) Against

  1. No fingerprint scanner.
  2. Battery life is poor.
  3. Motion Sense is very basic

Google Pixel 4 sales will begin in the last week of October. Many users want to buy a Pixel smartphone with the best processor, camera and assistant features. But keep in mind that the latest is not synonymous with the best, and you don’t have to run straight and pay as much as $ 1,000.

It’s true that the Pixel 4 and 4 XL introduce a lot of new features and performance, but that doesn’t mean it’s worth replacing or replacing an existing smartphone.

Google Pixel 4 and 4 XL: Better than the previous product

Specifications: As always, Google has upgraded almost all of the important parts from Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL. The new Pixel product includes the new processor, the Snapdragon 855, with a 50 percent increase in memory (RAM) from 4GB to 6GB. A new second camera lens, the telephoto lens, is also adopted for the rear camera. This means that telephoto magnification and portrait photography can be improved. The Pixel 4 XL’s battery capacity is 3,700mAH, which is larger than the Pixel 3 XL’s 3,430mAh, while the smaller Pixel 4’s screen size is 5.7 inches, which is larger than the Pixel 3’s 5.5 inches. The pixel 4 refresh rate is 90Hz, allowing smoother scrolling and pushing.

Features: There are two important new features introduced in Pixel 4 XL. Motion Sense and Face Unlock. Face Unlock is a face recognition security certified 3D camera like Face ID that replaces the back-fingerprint scanner. Motion Sense is a feature that allows you to control certain functions (such as pausing an alarm) without touching the screen. Google Assistant is also faster, and there’s a new app called Recorder that can convert everything you record with AI into text. Several new camera features have been introduced, including dual exposure to control exposure and tone mapping, double HDR, live HDR +, and Astral mode for astronomical photography.

Difficult to see better than the previous product

Specifications: In terms of design, it’s hard to say that Pixel 4 is a big improvement over Pixel 3. But users who didn’t like the Pixel 3 XL’s notch and rectangular camera bumps will find the new pixel’s design an improvement. But that’s not enough to compete with the Galaxy Note 10 and the iPhone 11 Pro. There are also a few more drawbacks that are not understood. The Pixel 4’s battery capacity is 2,800mAh, which is smaller than the Pixel 3’s 2,915mAh. Primary storage is the same as 64GB and 128GB, and there is no expandable memory slot. There is no headphone jack, and this product does not come with USB-C earphones. The Pixel 4 eliminates the front dual cameras that were adopted in the 3. However, the camera supports wide-angle selfies as before.

Function: I tested it myself, and the motion sensor worked fine. However, the functionality is limited to playing the previous and next songs, pausing the alarm, muting the timer, and ringing the phone. There’s not a lot of support right now, but there’s a lot of potential in the future. It’s important to note that this feature is actually implemented in Pixel 4. Face unlock also worked well. However, it has been known that when you close your eyes (i.e. when you sleep), there is a problem that someone else can unlock with your face. Of course, you can unlock it with the fingerprint of the user who is sleeping, but face recognition unlocking is a security feature that should not happen. This is a big flaw. That’s because the iPhone doesn’t have this problem.

New features on older pixel smartphones

Google has announced plans to introduce Pixel 3 and 3a equivalents to the new astronomical photography feature of the Night site. However, pixel 3 will not have good quality because there is no new neural core introduced in pixel 4. Older Android smartphones will come with a new Google Assistant and Recorder app, but Google hasn’t announced these plans.

Purchase advice

If you’re buying the latest product, the new Pixel smartphone is also worth buying. But given the high price, few innovative features, and some flaws and drawbacks, it might be better to consider buying a cheaper Pixel 3 or waiting for the next Pixel 4a.

Pixel 3 and 3 XL: Missing

Specifications: The processor is a bit slower, less RAM. Aside from this, the big difference is that the Pixel 3 rear camera lens is a single lens. There’s also no motion sense and no face unlock. The display size is very similar, but the Pixel 4 feels much faster thanks to a refresh rate of 90Hz.

Function: Pixel 3 doesn’t have motion sense and face unlock. As of today, the new Assistant and Recorder apps aren’t supported. The camera section also lacks live HDR + and double exposure.

What’s not in the latest model, but in Pixel 3

Unlike the Pixel 4, the Pixel 3 has a fingerprint sensor on the back and the front selfie camera is dual. You can also benefit from the unlimited free storage of photos in original quality by January 31, 2020. The Pixel 4 only offers free high-definition storage, while the rest costs Google One Drive storage space.

Unique color: Not Pink

Purchase advice: Unless you really need motion sense, consider buying a Pixel 3. In addition, Google now sells at $ 300 off the online store. There’s not much to give up in terms of speed, and the benefits of the new camera feature introduced in Pixel 4 are not FOMO (Fear of Missing Out). In addition, new features introduced in Pixel 4, such as the new Google Assistant, will also be adopted in Pixel 3.

Pixel 3a and 3a XL: Missing things

Because Pixel 3a is a “popular” pixel smartphone, you won’t get the latest features. Speed and glass material must be given up. The processor in Pixel 3a is the mid-range Snapdragon 670. The display is FHD and the back is made of plastic. It is also not waterproof. However, Google says it offers splash-grade waterproofing. The camera of pixel 3a is basically the same as pixel 3, but 3a does not have a dedicated pixel visual core image signal processor. In other words, it doesn’t provide fine-grained computer-based tuning for features like Night Sight.

Not in the latest models, but in the Pixel 3a and 3a XL

Headphone Jack! The Pixel 3a is Google’s only pixel smartphone model with a 3.5mm headphone jack. The plastic back is lighter than the Pixels 3 and 4, and a little more durable.

Purchase advice

The Pixel 3a is more than the latest and cheapest Google smartphone. It’s a very good Android smartphone in its own way. You’ll get an OLED display and a great camera for $ 399, and Google promises to support Android updates for three years. It’s still one of the few smartphones with a headphone jack. It’s not a smartphone with the latest specs, but it’s a very nice smartphone that can be bought at a low price of $ 399.
