Google Nest first announced Cam IQ in June 2017 as an upgrade to its entry line of security cameras. In late September, the Cam IQ Outdoor series was launched. The company confirmed to us that it has sold out the model today, and existing owners will see “ongoing feature support, software fixes, and important security updates”.
According to a report, Google Nest Cam IQ Outdoor has been sold out, and Google today confirmed that it is sold out. Nest also revealed to 9to5Google that it is planning to “launch a new lineup of security cameras by 2021.”
Google also revealed today that “Google Nest will continue to invest in innovations.” In particular, it includes a “new security camera lineup in 2021.” Because the company provided the expected preview, no additional details were provided.
Google will announce a strategic partnership with ADT in August this year. The two are developing a new security solution that will enable professional technicians to “sell and install equipment such as Nest Cameras and Nest Hub Max.”
Google’s current camera lineup starts with the Nest Cam Indoor at $129.99, with a price cut of $70 in May. There are also outdoor Google Nest Cam and indoor IQ IQ.
Although the last hardware update was at the end of 2017, Google added Assistant to Cam IQ Indoor a year later to transform it into a device similar to a smart speaker.
At the same time, Google revised the Nest Aware subscription in 2020 with a fixed pricing model covering all products. Whether the event video history is stored for 30 days or 60 days is divided into two levels. The latter product (Aware Plus) also includes 10 days of 24/7 video history.
The entry plan costs $6 per month, and the premium plan costs $12 per month, with annual options. Elsewhere in the Google Nest series, a new thermostat and Nest Audio speakers priced at $129.99 were introduced last year.
Looking to the future, Google Smart Display passed the FCC yesterday. In the coming months, the new Nest Hub may join the 2021 Google security surveillance camera.
