Samsung announced its latest collaboration with Google-integrating the Google Duo video calling service directly into the dialer app on Galaxy smartphones. As the protagonist of this conference, the flagship new products of the Galaxy S20 series and the Galaxy Z Flip folding screen smartphones will both obtain an enhanced communication experience similar to FaceTime on the iPhone.
Google Duo already launched Android and iOS mobile clients back in 2016. However, the native integration of Samsung smartphones can still bring more benefits to consumers (initiate a Google Duo video call directly in the Galaxy Dialer app).
Earlier this year, South Korea’s “Herald” had already revealed related functions. As part of the partnership, Google will work to optimize the video calling platform. This feature is now integrated into the One UI software for Galaxy S20 series smartphones.
In addition to finding the Google Duo icon directly in the dialer of the Galaxy S20, this feature also supports the wide-angle selfie camera of the phone and Samsung’s own AR Emoji function (also supported by the newly released Galaxy Z Flip folding screen smartphone).
In addition to the Wi-Fi network environment, users can also make video calls over cellular data networks (up to 8 people chat). However, for the best experience, the company still recommends everyone use a 5G connection.
