After a meteoric rise to reputation in 2018, Fortnite generated more than $5 billion in its first 12 months for Epic video games, new financial documents reveal. The report, made public as a part of Epic’s court battle with Apple over the latter’s App store practices, indicates that the game introduced more than $9 billion overall for Epic in 2018 and 2019.
The report doesn’t break down how a good deal Epic specifically profited from Fortnite, however, the organization mentioned more than $5.5 billion in benefit from the 2-year period.
within the report, the organization expected that it would have nearly $3.6 billion in revenue for 2020. Epic doesn’t generally publicly provide financial statements, but CEO Tim Sweeney’s current testimony suggests that it genuinely made a great deal extra: $5.1 billion.
Sweeney made a point he’s made a lot, which is that Apple can make more money on a game with its commissions than the developer of the game – Apple objects to this.

The sales from Fortnite far outshone every other agency that Epic ran at the time — “different games” (together with Rocket League, acquired with the aid of Epic in 2019) made $108 million in revenue in 2018 and 2019, and Epic’s engine brought in $221 million over the same span. Epic’s game store, launched on the quit of 2018, brought in a total of $235 million between 2018 and 2019.
