The two companies announced on Monday that the new partnership between Fitbit and Tile will allow Fitbit Inspire 2 users to locate their devices through Tile’s Bluetooth tracking. Free updates are available starting Monday. Users only need to update their device software in the Fitbit app to add Bluetooth tracking, then download and activate the Tile app. After enabling the Tile app, Inspire 2 users should be able to find their misplaced device through their latest location which is best for us, or they can use Tile’s global crowdsourcing network to find it.
Fitbit Inspire 2 users can also sign up for Tile Premium to get smart alerts and other premium content for US$2.99 per month or US$29.99 per year.
This is the first official partnership between Tile and a wearable device company although Tile does list headset manufacturers like Bose, Skullcandy, and Sennheiser as partners.
As more and more companies develop products that compete with Tile, the field of lost property tracking has become more and more crowded. Samsung launched its Galaxy SmartTag earlier this year, and Apple’s AirTag is expected to be on the market for some time. Both are expected to have both Bluetooth and Ultra-Wideband (UWB) versions.
Also starting from Monday, Fitbit’s Charge 4 device will be updated, which adds SpO2 blood oxygen saturation tracking, skin temperature tracking, and Fitbit’s health indicator dashboard.
