Mark Zuckerberg, take notice. There is an Apple Quest 2 coming. According to MacRumors, well-known Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicted the company will release a mixed-reality headset in 2022.
The Quest 2 could face some serious competition from Apple next year.
According to Kuo, the headset will have two processors, including one as powerful as the M1 chip in Apple’s new MacBooks. With such processing power, the headset would no longer require a computer or smartphone to operate.
Kuo said the headset would support augmented reality (AR), which superimposes virtual objects and characters on the real world, like Pokémon GO.
Meta has announced that it plans to release its own next-generation headset, called Project Cambria, next year.
AppleTrack, a website that tracks the accuracy of Apple rumors, reports that Kuo is right about 75 percent of the time. Kuo isn’t the only one making these claims.
As early as 2022, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reported, Apple plans to release a mixed-reality headset.
