Congratulations to everyone who got new Apple devices at Christmas! However, you may encounter some difficulties when setting up and logging in to iCloud with other Apple users.
First reported by Apple Insider, as of Saturday morning, Apple’s system status page displayed “some users are affected by this issue,” which began at 4:45 AM Eastern Time on December 25. The status update shows: “The user may have a problem with this service.”
@AppleSupport hey there, is there an estimate of when the Apple ID sign in issue will be resolved? Trying to set up my mom’s new iPad and HomePod mini but keep running into sign in issues

The issue appears to be affecting multiple devices. The system status page does not show any other parts of iCloud or other Apple services. The Apple support team tweeted on Friday afternoon that it was aware of the problem and stated that “currently experiencing high capacity, this is affecting your ability to set up iCloud. Please try again in a few hours.” The message is for attempts. For users who installed their mother’s new iPad and HomePod mini.
The severity of the problem is not yet known, but Apple has not updated it for several hours. Apple did not immediately respond to The Verge’s request for comment on Saturday morning. If there is any new information, we will update it in this article.
